[Please note that Al Jamiat is privately held by an education company, there is NO affiliation with the Iraqi government, scholarship or their partners. We are only assisting students in answering basic questions and directing them to the main website of the Iraqi Education Initiative as highlighted in the first paragraph below. The official website of the Iraq Education Initiative is: Higher Committee for Education Development in Iraq ]

So many Iraqi students are asking us about the scholarship and the basics…so here they are as we understand them. The best and most accurate information can be found on the official site of the Higher Committee for Education Development in Iraq (?????? ??????? ?????? ??????? ?? ??????).

The newly launched Iraq Education Initiative scholarships will allow approximately 50,000 Iraqi students study in English speaking countries across the world.  The first group of scholarships are being awarded for the upcoming year (2009/2010) and the scholarship application is open for students to apply. The Iraqi scholarship application is available here: http://www.hcediraq.org/index_files/Apply.htm

This is a scholarship awarded by the Iraqi government and requires students to return home to work for the same amount of time they were studying.  The students are fully funded by the government of Iraq.  There are currently NO open offices for students to go to for the scholarship. In order to receive it, you MUST fill out the application and send it in.

Fast Facts:

  • 500-600 scholarships to be awarded in September 2009 to Iraqi students
  • Students must apply to English speaking Universities (United States, United Kingdom, Australia, etc)
  • Scholarships include tuition, fees, and living stipend
  • Students may apply for Associates (2 year), Bachelors, Masters and PhD programs
  • English language program study is available for students to improve language skills
  • Open to all accredited Universities, Colleges, Community Colleges
  • Scholarships are awarded according to the percentage of population in each province of Iraq
  • 10,000 scholarships available for the next 5 years (beginning in 2o10/2011)

The first step you MUST take is to complete the scholarship application! Once you have completed your application, you will need to start thinking about where you want to attend college.  The next steps will be easier once you have your application for the Iraqi scholarship completed.

To start you will need to:
1. Review the rules for the Iraq education scholarship
2. Fill out the scholarship application carefully and accurately
a.  Bachelors degree scholarship application
b. Masters/PhD scholarship application
3. Send application in to the Higher Committee (HCED)
4. Receive confirmation of your application from the Committee
5. Wait for a response regarding your scholarship

Teaching-Learning process is a matter of morals and ethics. There should be a merit of good manners and a good behavior in the teaching-learning techniques. It is not a matter of how much I will gain but it is a matter of how much I can offer for those who are on pins and needles to develop their minds and thoughts. In the past we struggled to gain a proper governmental clearance to have ourselves indulged in Higher Education inside the country or abroad but only those who are the followers will be sent out or gain priorities inside. We are now old enough to hear about scholarships and sharing in symposiums abroad or even inside the country. We have to make use of our experiences. Those people of two faces are the best in gaining profits. We have to be aware of them. They are looking for their own benefit and not to sacrifice for their country and people. Let us put a side hatredness and struggle for specific people and aims and look in general for all those who would like to improve teaching-learning operation. Make Iraq Clean, Make Iraq Green and Do not be a Litter bug.

I would to be frank with youth who are busy with Nargilla and cheap music. In the past our ancestors used to go far from their accommodation areas for enjoiment. Nowadays young people try to show their behavior whether good or bad. We are only observers of youth behavior. The youth have the right to behave themselves in many fields such as music, folklore dance and sports of many kinds. Iraq is in dire need of youth to create and deveiop their talents to serve Iraq. Iraqis need to show their ancient civilization. Baghdad was built circular and it was the center of radiation. We needto know that Al-Mustansiriyah School was the first school and the shops in front of Mustansiriyah were rooms for thikers to research and write. At the Ottoman Empire those shops were used as stables. We need to have thinkers, researchers and intellectuals every where. We need good musicians and singers. We need good instructors to have a forward look to build the New Iraq. No more political parties loyalty. We should be loyal to Iraq only. Baghdad will remain a city of peace.

    Hi,

My name is Harman, I am Iraqi and living in Iraq, graduated from College of Medicine.

My comment is a question and it has too many links to the subject above.

I applied to the HCED-Iraq scholarship and after few days, they sent me an email and they called me that I've been selected and they invited me to the interview, I went to Baghdad and made that interview successfully. Total available seats allocated to my city was 11, and I was the ONLY one there.

All these events; application, notification, invitation, and interviewing took less than a MONTH, BUT since then, they are neglecting me, every time I sent them an email, their reply is the same, and only saying that we are waiting Ministry of Health's decision, and today 2 months will exceed since the interview…

My QUESTION is that, is there any one out there, who has been a candidate, or accepted in the HCED-Iraq, or knows anyone, yes ANYONE, near or far, who has been accepted in this scholarship and went outside successfully??? Is this program is real or fake? As I know no one has been accepted or went outside through this scholarship. Is it true they will send us, or they will just postpone appointments, time after time? It is real or just killing our time?

Please help me, 'cause I am trying hardly to not lose faith and hope, but I am beginning to lose it.

If any one interested in giving a hand, or a trace leading to anything, please don't hesitate to contact me here on this nice website or just by contacting me through this email; tola297(at)gmail(dot)com.

    I really appreciate any help….

    Kind Regards;
    Harman
