I think that there are valuable lessons to be learned from being alone during the holidays, but it comes down to traditions and how important the holidays are to you. For me, the holidays are a time for family and sharing, and the rest of the year can be about exploration and independence. You just can't let anyone tell you how you should spend the holidays - if you prefer to do something alone and reflect, then that is your choice. There is no right or wrong way to do it.
