Casablanca, Morocco

AMIDEAST Study Abroad program discussed

Ms. Hack was quite open when her visa numbers and mentioned that the US Embassy had processed over 500 F1 visas all together.

Fair was held in the AMIDEAST office in Casablanca

    85% of the students were Moroccan

No high school visits in Morocco

Dubai, UAE

Ms. Lina ElLabban Educational Advisor, US Embassy took care of the US Embassy advising table at fair.

The fair was held in the Movenpick Ballroom.

    845 students attended the fair
    65% Undergraduate
    35% Graduate

    2% of the students were UAE Nationals
    98% of the students were expats. (Most of the expats were Indian)

Muscat, Oman

Ambassador Gary A. Grappo (Purdue Graduate) opened the fair

Amideast has opened a new office in Muscat, they attended the fair.

The fair was held in the Grand Hyatt Ballroom.

Attendance at Kuwait fair

    758 students attended the fair
    55% Undergraduate
    45% Graduate

    40% of the students were Omani Nationals
    60% of the students were expats. (Most of the expats were Indian)

After the fair we all went to the Rass Al Hadd Turtle Sanctuary. Saw giant turtles and baby turtles hatch.

We visited two high schools in Oman, American British Academy and TAISM.

Aramco also gave a presentation to the group.

Two High School Counselor from the Eastern province also came to the fair in Manama.

Private mini fair for the Crown Prince Scholarship fund students was held about an hour and a half before the regular fair. 60 students registered for the fair.

The fair was held in the Sheraton ballroom.

    40% of the students were expats. (Most of the expats were Indian and Saudi, the Saudi students drove from Dhahran, which is about 30 minutes away)

We only visited one high school, Modern Knowledge.

    60% of the students were Kuwaiti
    40% of the students were expats. (Most of the expats were Indian and Pakistani)

HRH Lolowah, sister of King Abdullah opened the fair and greeted all the university representatives.

    10% of the students were expats. (Most of the expats were Indian)

Second Fair was held at the Qatif Charitable Center.

Visited one private high school in Jeddah

Took the group on a snorkeling trip to the Red Sea.
